SIFF – Fly Tying Workshops

The Sea Island Fly Fishers is restructuring the fly tying workshops and hope to have this important program available again to the membership in the near future.

The Sea Island Fly Fishers is restructuring the fly tying workshops and hope to have this important program available again to the membership in the near future.

Tiers of all levels, from beginner to expert, are invited to participate. Each month, we tie a different pattern which focuses on our local fishery. Ken Prager, our Fly Tying Committee Chair, is a frequent presenter. We also invite guest presenters who may wish to demonstrate tying their favorite fly to the group. If you would like to be a presenter, please Contact Us.

There is no fee required for participation. We encourage tiers to seek out the listed materials at their favorite fly shop. However, we have an adequately stocked “club box” to supplement the tiers’ supplies. For beginners, we also have a number of tying vises and craft lights for their use.

Each month, the pattern we will tie is announced in our Events Calendar. We will also make the announcement via our e-mail system. If you are not currently receiving e-mails from us, you are invited to join our e-mail system, simply Click Here. Questions or concerns, please Contact Us.

The SIFF member tyers have just past 61 sessions tying shrimp, crabs, and minnow patterns and some requested fresh water flies. We have had 10 guest tyers, both guides and professional guest tyers. We look forward to having you attend every third Thursday from 5:00 pm till 7:30 pm at the PRSF classroom.
