This oyster reef substrate will be used to create new oyster reefs in the Beaufort area. The fabrication of these reef units requires the use of pneumatic tools, galvanized wire and recycled oyster shell. This reef substrate has proven extremely effective at recruiting oysters and in turn providing essential habitat for numerous estuarine species.
