This month we welcome Kristin Williams who has served as the Executive Director of the Open Land Trust since January 2019. Originally from the Bahamas, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication from the College of Charleston. Prior to her current role, Kristin was the Executive Director of a conservation organization in Abaco, Bahamas, where she led initiatives focused on marine conservation, environmental education, and research.
After 13 years in the Bahamas, Kristin and her husband Lloyd, a Charleston native, returned to the Lowcountry with their two children, Gray and Ford.
Since joining the Open Land Trust, Kristin has helped lead the organization through a period of growth in both scale and impact. Over the past five years, the Trust has protected more than 11,000 acres of critical land across the region. Amidst our area’s unprecedented development pressures, the organization remains steadfast in its work — to protect the Lowcountry’s most iconic viewsheds and large, connected landscapes that are essential to our watersheds, wildlife, history, culture, and way of life.
